Nigel crime report from 7-13 July

Crime Report

A burglary occurred at Happiness Primary School in Alrapark on July 7. According to police spokesperson Sgt Nellie Dwaba, after breaking and entering the school premises, thugs forced open classroom doors where they scavenged several cupboards. The value of stolen property is not yet known.

 
Police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property, following an incident which occurred at a residence in Flip de Bruin Street on July 7, when a domestic argument between groups of friends at a social gathering ensued. According to Sgt Dwaba, the argument turned violent with reports of damage to vehicles and shots being fired. No arrests have been made.

 
A footplate worth around R2 000 was reported stolen off a Toyota Land Cruiser, which was parked at a local filling station in Main Road on July 8. The complainant told police he attended the convenient store and upon his arrival at home, he discovered that the footplate had been cut off clean.

 
A suspect was arrested at a tuck shop in Alrapark on July 9 and later charged with assault. He is expected to appear in Nigel Magistrate’s Court soon.

 
Police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property, after a car window had been broken in the parking area of The Angelo Mall on July 10. Nothing had been reported stolen.
A burglary occurred at Dorbie Avenue in Jameson Park on July 12, during which a microwave oven and washing machine had been stolen. The estimated value of the stolen property amounts to R6 000.

 
Police are investigating a carjacking which occurred in Hartebeespoort Dam on July 12. According to Sgt Dwaba, the victim was hijacked at gunpoint by a group of suspects who were driving in two vehicles, namely a white Mercedes Benz and an Audi A5. He was reportedly robbed of his car (a maroon Porsche Cayenne), his cellphone, watch and cash. He told police that the hijackers pushed him into the back seat of a car and they drove for hours before dropping him off alongside the road in Hallgate. The stolen Porsche was later recovered at Melrose in Johannesburg.
