Police hunt for suspect who fired shots at railway security outside Heidelberg

Police on the scene where shots were fired at security guards by a suspect

According to police spokesperson Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate, the shooting occurred around 02:45 on June 6 when security guards who were monitoring a stationery goods train, heard gunshots.

 

“It was reported that the suspect fired shots at the patrolling vehicle as it drove past the stationery train. The bullet entered the passenger’s door and hit the driver in the leg. He was later transported to Netcare Union Hospital in Alberton for medical treatment,” capt Tshilate said.

Police recovered boxes containing stolen goods and several empty cartridges on the scene.

Anyone with information on the suspect that is involved the shooting are urged to phone SAPS Heidelberg on 016 341 0343 or SAPS Crime Stop 08600 10111 or send a sms to Crime Line 32211.
