A crime is an offence or an act that is harmful not only to some individual or individuals, but also to a community, society or the state. Such acts are forbidden and punishable by law.
A criminal then, is someone who breaks the law. If you are a murderer, thief, or a traffic offender, for example, you are a criminal.
Laws/rules have been created to establish harmony in society. We create them. The citizens of a country/city/town have appointed the state as the guardian of these laws. And because the state is the guardian of the laws we want, it is commonly accepted that the police (state) are responsible for enforcing them. If this is what you think, you are wrong!
Enforcing these laws/rules, starts with you! You cannot blame the police for not being around when you commit a traffic offence! This is what you want to do. If you do not stop at a stop sign or red traffic light, you are at fault! Sure, if you are caught by a traffic officer, there will be consequences for you. This is what WE, the citizens expect from the law. And kid you not, committing a traffic offence IS a crime.
If you want to steal, or murder, that is All on you. You make the decision. You cannot blame the Cop for not being around to stop you when you want to willfully commit a crime. In fact, you don’t want a cop around when you commit your dastardly act.
Remember how recently you nearly had a heart attack when school girls broke the law when not complying with the school rules/laws? Which, by the way, are rules/laws that we created to establish harmony and discipline in our schools. Remember how you reacted? How dare they break the rules? Isn’t committing any other unlawful act exactly the same?
So, here is the challenge: Although we employ various mechanisms to regulate certain bahaviour,
YOU are ultimately primarily responsible for obeying your own laws/rules/regulations.
Just thought I’d put it out there.
